چکیده
Abstract Using a small, open, two-region economy model populated by two-period-lived overlapping generations, we analyze long-term agglomeration and congestion diseconomy effects of young worker concentration on migration the overall fertility rate. When migration-stability condition is satisfied, distribution workers between regions obtainable in each period for predetermined population size. Results show that stability does not guarantee dynamic economy. Economies and Diseconomies: Estimating Electricity Cost Functions
This paper presents estimates of the variable cost function of electricity generation. The cost function is estimated using a two dimensional definition of capacity utilization. Because electricity cannot be conveniently stored, generation facilities follow the load across demand cycles. Capacity utilization can be captured empirically in two ways. One is generation relative to capacity when a ...
متن کاملEconomic Geography, Fertility and Migration
This paper analyzes the relationship among economic geography, fertility and migration. The empirical evidence presented reveals that persistent regional variations in fertility exist within a country and that regional total fertility rates are negatively related to regional population density. A two-period overlapping generations model of endogenous fertility, incorporating n-regions, agglomer...
متن کاملAgglomeration and networks in spatial economies
We consider the parallel developments in the economics of agglomeration and the economics of networks. We explore the complementarities between the productivity benefits of agglomeration and those of network linkages, arguing that networks of actors dispersed over space may substitute for agglomerations of actors at a single point. Abstract In this paper, the effect of foreign sector macro-variable on inflation dynamics and firms’ pricing behavior has been investigated in the context of a small open economy New Keynesian Phillips Curve. This curve is derived and estimated for a developing oil-exporting economy suffering from Dutch Disease. This version of NKPC is an extension of Leith and Malley’s (2007) small open econom...
